FIX THOSE BEE PROBLEMS & STAY SAFE – from $99
An encounter with bees can be a major cause of concern, especially if they are frequenting children’s play areas or if a family member is sensitive or allergic to bee stings. Even apart from these more serious instances no one likes the thought of being stung by a bee!!
WHY ARE ALL THESE BEES AROUND MY HOME?
Bees can become a nuisance around the home quite quickly. It often seems that one day they were never even noticed then the next they are everywhere. Usually their arrival means that a food source has emerged nearby and so the bees descend on your location. Have a look around your home or over the fence and more than likely you will find a flowering vine or bushes or perhaps fruit trees nearby. Bees, as we all know feed off pollen, so if you’ve got a bee problem there is sure to be an abundance of pollen nearby.
Next they may decide to set up a new nest at your home simply because of its proximity to this food source. A favourite nesting site for bees will be inside your wall cavity. More often than not if you are brave enough to follow the bees flight path you will discover them entering the weep holes in your brickwork or perhaps going a gap in your eaves etc that allows them to access your ceiling cavity. If you can see this happening you will need a professional treatment as soon as possible. If they are nesting in your walls then without a professional treatment the bees will be your permanent guest in increasing numbers because a nest in your walls means they intend to set up camp and increase their population!!
WHAT PROBLEMS CAN BE CAUSED BY BEES?
The number one concern, of course, is human safety. Stings are painful and can cause a great deal of distress to sensitive individuals.
Second, if a hive is established in your walls for long, honey will be produced which will in turn attract other pests such as ants. If the nest is allowed to develop for too long and then dealt with there is potential for the remaining honey to ferment and give off unpleasant odours or leaks through your walls leaving discolouration and damage to floor coverings.
Third, some bees species are capable of physical dmage to a building. One such species is the Mortar Bee. The Mortar Bee burrows into soft mortar between the brickwork in your building. Each female makes its own burrow so walls can have quite a deal of damage should this species take hold around your home.
WHAT CAN BE DONE ABOUT BEES?
A treatment with a professional standard product can sort a bee problem out almost instantly. This would typically involve treating your wall cavity with an insecticidal dust that will repel the bees, encouraging them nest at somebody else’s house! Also, a residual product can be applied to the outside of your home that again repels bees that even think about landing on your walls thus creating a lasting deterrent to these problem creatures.
